The Cotinière's harbour (only port of the island that opens out on to the Atlantic) is famous for the quality of its fish which pass only a few days in the icy bellies of the trawlers before being sold on the quaysides.
This fishing port is a rallying point of tourists who come to contemplate the most picturesque site of Oleron Island.
You will find also lot's of gift shops in lively streets, and a very good ice shop "La Marine" who sells delicious hand made ice cream!
