Oleron Island in France, forming part of the Charente-Maritime departement, is located off the coast of France south of "La Rochelle" and north of the Gironde Estuary. Oleron is a nice and typical french island connected to the mainland by a 3 km toll-free viaduct.
Oleron is the second largest French island (after Corsica), with an area of 68 sq mi (175 sq km).
Famous for its oysters and Pineau des charentes (sweet wine) you will appreciate the temperate climat and the charme of the harbours. There are beaches for all tastes and the landscapes are never boring, alternating between pine forest and sand dunes.
